Tagliamonte Vicenza: gold, coral, turquoise, Venetian Cameos (glass pastes) Tagliamonte Vicenza, a historical Italian goldsmith company, founded in Torre del Greco (Naples) in 1943, has combined the manual tradition of the goldsmith's art with technological innovation for three generation. Besides its traditional activity of processing gold, coral, turquoise, cameos in 1987 Tagliamonte decided to move into the mysterious and slightly magical world of Venetian Cameos (glass pastes). Glass pastes were part and parcel of the refined jewellery tradition of the ancient Romans, but all trace of them was lost down the centuries. The Tagliamonte operation is more than just the rediscovery of a noble material which, in terms of sheen and colour range, has nothing to envy coloured stones. Proof of the point is the attraction which these tiny engravings exert on designers and creatives, who use them without inhibition in the most diverse combinations, with gold, other metals, stones and so on. |
